Join us for the Post-AWP, NaPoWriMo, Get Your Shit Together, Ultimate, No Excuses SUBMISSIONS SESH!
Submissions Sesh is an awesome recurring event for The Poetry Lab. This session is 3 hours of everything you've ever wanted to know about submitting your work for publication. Not only is this information incredibly helpful in getting your work published and out there in the world, but it also helps you learn how to get paid! as a writer, which is not only rewarding, it is necessary.
We believe, irrevocably, that writers deserve to be paid for their work. If you're thinking - paid? for a poem??? Then you must attend the Submissions Sesh (because, we have got good news for you!!)
The Submissions Sesh covers all of these topics:
cover letters, tracking sheets, Submittable & Duotrope, where to submit, resources for finding new places to submit, writing biographical statements, submission formatting, paying markets, name recognition, blogging & personal websites, what to do when you're rejected, what to do when you're ACCEPTED! and more...
PLUS! The AWP Conference has just ended, our members have scoured the conference looking for new and exciting submissions opportunities. It's a well-known fact that one of the best times of year to submit is right after the AWP conference, when both writers and editors alike are feeling energized by the conference afterglow. (We're also tired, which is why we often don't submit after the conference, but we should. And tonight is about getting us all motivated to DO THE WORK!)
